A number of sliding scale spots are available. Once these spots are filled, a waitlist will be created.
Sliding scale will then be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
How does sliding scale work?
My sliding scale process is based on trust. I will never ask for proof of your income. In a world of student debt, loans, high rent and mortgages, rising food and gas costs, absurd costs of health care and transit, and increase cost of luxury goods/experiences, I don’t believe that an “hearty income” accurately reflects what any of us can afford. Whether you’re unemployed or employed and barely scraping by, I invite you to consider a sliding scale option if it will support your wellness. Therapy isn’t helpful if it’s causing us financial stress.
How do I set up sliding scale services?
First you’ll visit Open Path and submit your request for services. Open Path is a collective that requires a one time $65 fee to join the collective—you’ll have access to all of their therapist for all of time. Once you submit your request, Open Path will forward the referral to me and I’ll then reach out to you to set up our consult if we haven’t had one already.
Once you and I establish your fee for your sessions, that will remain your fee for your sessions moving forward. This fee will not be flexible session-to-session.
What should I consider when requesting sliding scale?
I like The Green Bottle Method by Alexis J. Cunningfolk, but think there’s room for nuance. I recommend considering where you are right now and will likely be for the next 6 months, barring any unexpected events.
What are the sliding scale options?
The scale goes from $40 to $70 for individual sessions and $40 to $80 for relational/couples for 50 min sessions.
Will my sliding scale be good forever?
Nothing is forever! When annual client consent forms are due at the start of each calendar year, I will send a sliding scale check-in to all who are utilizing sliding scale services. This is a chance to opt in or out. You can opt in and keep your same fee. You can opt out, too, and begin paying the standard fee. When someone opts out, this makes it possible for me to open the waitlist up to others who need sliding scale.
What if I have an unexpected event that decreases my income?
If you find yourself temporarily or permanently without a source of income, please let me know as soon as possible so we can organize, plan, and identify resources. One time per month I have a number of 30-minute slots available for established clients who are impacted by loss of income or significant events that affect the ability to pay for services. The 30-minutes are focused, intentional, and fee free.
